Make sure you have Title V report in hand (for private septics only)
Schedule utilities to be out of your name & forward mail to begin on the date of the closing
Notify your home owner’s insurance company that you are canceling the insurance.
Buyer’s lender will provide a commitment letter
Have the new deed prepared by your attorney or the closing attorney
Location and time of closing is determined by the closing attorney
The buyer will do a final walkthrough the day before or the morning of the closing.
House should be clear of all personal items and in broom-clean condition
You will “go on record,” typically at the Registry of Deeds
You will hand over the keys to the buyers
You receive your proceeds check
If applicable, we will then leave to close on your new home, typically later the same day.
